Unintended Consequences: Mask Mandates Resulting in “Mask Pollutionâ€https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/02/unintended-consequences-mask-mandates-are-resulting-in-mask-pollution/During the pandemic era, part of my daily routine has been to take a long hike in a nearby regional park. During my walks, I see two or three discarded masks on my route.
Shoshanah Jacobs, a biology professor at Ontario, Canada’s University of Guelph, also had the same observation when she looked around her neighborhood. In fact, she gathered a group to do a detailed study of masks’ local environmental impact.
In their analysis, the team found that masks and gloves were discarded near the places where they were required to be worn . . . as if people couldn’t wait to be rid of them.
In states where the bureaucrats were
Mask Nazis, I think discarded mask pollution will be a thing for a year or more after the mask mandates are finally lifted. I've seen them in neighborhood and business landscaping, parks, and trails used by runners and bicyclists. The ones who discarded the masks or lost them carelessly bear primary blame, of course, but
no-thought mask mandates created the context in which the carelessness happened (i.e., more intelligent limited mandates, fewer carelessly discarded/lost masks).
