House Democrats plan to walk the impeachment charge against former President Donald Trump to the Senate on Monday evening, but multiple members of the GOP in the Upper Chamber have already come out against holding a trial.

The Epoch Times reported Monday, 29 GOP senators have spoken out against holding a trial, arguing it is unconstitutional to try to convict a former office holder, or a waste of time.

"I think right now Donald Trump is no longer the president; he is a former president," Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., told NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday. He insisted the Constitution does not say "that you can impeach someone who is not in office."

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., also said Sunday the Senate lacks the constitutional authority to convict Trump now that he has left office. He also said, according to PBS NewsHour, "the more I talk to other Republican senators, the more they're beginning to line up" behind that argument.

"I think a lot of Americans are going to think it's strange that the Senate is spending its time trying to convict and remove from office a man who left office a week ago," he added.

The Dems would need 17 of 21.  That ain't gonna happen.  Shelby, Sullivan, Crapo, Risch, Kennedy, Burr, Tillis, Young, Moran, Inhofe, Lankford, Lee, and Capito should be easy 'no' votes.

I think the focus should be to remove all Republicans who vote for impeachment, in both houses of Congress.

Liz Cheney has to be pushed out of the political realm, I do not care who her father was.  Her primary competitor will receive a donation from me!!!  If Charlie McCarthy was worth a good BM, he would have removed her from leadership!!

Toomey has indicated he will vote to impeach, but he claims he will not run again.  Good riddance.

Mitt Romney is perhaps the worst senator of the lot, who will vote for impeachment.  He intends to run for POTUS, so he will not need to be primaried, he just needs to be a Biden 1 percenter!

And Sasse and Lee I expect to vote to impeach, and both needed to be driven out of government with their next election.

Neither Sasse nor Lee will vote for removal.  Sasse is already calling it unconstitutional.  The Dems will be lucky to get four GOP Senators to go along with their sham.

It's a bill of attainder. Don't care if it's Trump or not.
