Trump planning to form PAC, play Republican kingmaker for years to come

Whether or not President Trump’s time in the Oval Office is winding down, it looks like he won’t be leaving the political arena anytime soon.

Trump plans to form a leadership PAC in order to maintain sway within the Republican Party, campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said Tuesday.

“The president always planned to do this, win or lose, so he can support candidates and issues he cares about, such as combating voter fraud,” said Murtaugh in a statement.

Leadership PACs can accept contributions from individual donors of up to $5,000 per year, with no restrictions on the number of individuals who can contribute.

Such a war chest — potentially stocked by the more than 71 million Americans who voted for Trump against former Vice President Joe Biden, the second-highest vote tally ever in a US election — could allow Trump to play Republican kingmaker for years to come, including in the 2022 midterm elections and the 2024 presidential election.

This is why the Democrats and their allies are so anxious for Trump to concede.  They know if he concedes without a fight, his base deserts him.  But if he fights it to SCOTUS, and even if he doesn't prevail, the base is still intact, and he will stay the defacto leader of the GOP.   The stories that Republicans will abandon Trump if he doesn't concede "gracefully" are a bunch of crap.

Rallies will go forward, but now the focus is on State and Local races, and ultimately winning 300+ House Seats in 2022.
