I did not go through the entire thread, so if I am repeating something from earlier, I apologize in advance.
For the second debate in this year's national election, I am sadly disgusted by the moderator. I think Susan Page was a major embarrassment, but what should one expect from a USA Today journalist wannabe? My complaint has nothing to do with the tone of the debate, but the SUBSTANCE was garbage on her part.
From the very first question to VP Pence, I thought, O boy, here we go.
Page: "More than 210,000 Americans have died of COVID-19 since February. The US death toll as a percentage of our population is higher than that of almost every other wealthy nation on earth. For instance, our death rate is two and a half times of that of Canada, next door. You head the administration’s corona virus task force. Why is the US death toll as a percentage of our population, higher than that of almost every other wealthy country?"
Now I ask any of you, have any of you seen a metric that measures COVID-19 deaths as a percent of total population? I surely have NOT! So, I just did the calculations, and here they are for your edification:
12 Wealthiest Nations by Total Wealth
Population Death via COVID Percent
USA 308,401,808 212485 0.0006889
China Bogus
Japan Bogus
Germany
UK
France
India Bogus
Italy 60,461,826 36,083 0.000597
Canada 37,742,154 9,606 0.000255
Spain 46,754,788 32,688 0.000699
South Korea Bogus
Australia Bogus
Note: I am fairly certain that of the 12 wealthiest nations, 5 of them are total bullsh*t!
I did not waste my time putting all the numbers above. I listed three other nations beside the USA for the following reasons. Only Spain had a higher mortality percentage than the USA. I listed Canada and Italy because of how they performed in the following metric, which is the ONLY metric I have seen reported with some regularity, and both their numbers are notably far worse than the USA.
12 Wealthiest Nations by Total Wealth
Infected with COVID Deaths from COVID Percent
USA 7,589,353 212,485 2.8%
China * 90,686 4,739 5.2%
Japan * 87,656 1,617 1.84%
Germany 315,536 9,584 3.0%
UK 564,500 42,682 7.56%
France 711,704 32,539 4.57%
India * 6,835,655 105,526 1.54%
Italy 338,398 36,083 10.66%
Canada 177,256 9,606 5.42%
Spain 848,324 27,180 3.1%
South Korea * 24,422 427 1.75%
Australia * 27,216 897 3.3%
Note: Nations with asterisk above, I just do not believe their reported numbers!
When one considers the nations above, I think it is safe to say we are perhaps the most free in every way, and I attribute that fact to the high incidence of the virus in our society. Only three nations of the above nations have a better mortality rate than the USA, and all three fit in my bogus category. Either they are intentionally misreporting their numbers, or their methodology is different than ours. It was said recently that the real number of mortality cases in the USA due to COVID-19 was around 8,000, and virtually everyone else had other major conditions that advanced the person's death.
I religiously tracked the numbers daily up to June 2nd. And after the debate last night, I went through all the numbers and I found something interesting that no news media has reported to my knowledge.
USA
As of Date Mortality Rate
June 2 5.88%
Oct 8 2.8%
June 3 1.8%
- Oct 8
Bottomline: This virus was an unknown. Our CDC/NIH, etc were NOT prepared for this pandemic on any level. There is criminal culpability there in my humble opinion. BUT, the good news is the speed by which we mobilized to fight this pandemic. Does anyone here honestly believe HR Clinton would have produced such favorable results? In reality, I suspect if HR Clinton was POTUS, this virus would never have been released upon the world, or if it happened as it did, we would be in the millions of dead. I just do not believe that CHINA experienced an ACCIDENT. And yes, I fully believe they would kill their own people to screw their primary competitor in the global market, led by a man that has put the hurt on their economy.
The good news is that this mortality rate for the past four months is less than double the normal flu in a bad year. Another fact is that I believe roughly 40% of the death were NOT due to COVID-19, but to some other malady, but COVID got the blame because of billing, and what the government is willing to pay for COVID. Fraud abounds when things are loosy goosy.
