New York health officials were warned in writing that a Brooklyn nursing home where 55 patients have died of coronavirus was overwhelmed — weeks before it began topping the state’s official list of resident COVID-19 deaths, damning emails show.

Cobble Hill Health Center CEO Donny Tuchman sent a desperate email to state Health Department officials on April 9, asking if there was “a way for us to send our suspected covid patients” to the hospital built inside the Javits Convention Center or the US Naval hospital ship Comfort — the under-utilized federal medical facilities on Manhattan’s West Side.

“We don’t have the ability to cohort right now based on staffing and we really want to protect our other patients,” Tuchman wrote in a chain of the emails reviewed by The Post.

He was denied.

Coronavirus patients at a Brooklyn nursing home were denied admission to both of the medical facilities established in New York to handle victims of the pandemic even though beds were mostly empty.

The New York Post obtained access to email from the CEO of the Cobble Hill Health Center to state officials seeking to relocate sick residents.

“We don’t have the ability to cohort right now based on staffing and we really want to protect our other patients,” Cobble Hill CEO Donny Tuchman wrote in the chain of the emails.

“He was denied,” the Post reported.

“I was told those facilities were only for hospitals” to send their overflow patients, Tuchman said in the Post report:

To make sense of the carnage at New York nursing homes, you don’t need to sprout wings and survey the scene from 30,000 feet. Just keep your BS detector on and connect a few big dots.

Start with the knowledge Albany had for months — that the coronavirus was extra-lethal for the elderly. Study after study showed death rates climbed with age, especially among those with serious, pre-existing health issues. That describes the entire population in most nursing homes.

Then look at the now-infamous March 25 directive from the New York State Department of Health that orders those homes and rehabilitation centers to admit and readmit patients sick with the coronavirus. ...

The disease has claimed more than 3,500 souls in nursing and rehab centers, or nearly 25 percent of the total known deaths in the state. There is no way to know exactly how many died as a result of the state order, but the number is certainly not zero.  ...

The moment nursing homes are brought into court - by the State of NY or by people who lost loved ones - the nursing homes will be able to show what the State of NY jammed down their throats. Goobernor Cumo won't be able to keep this genie stuffed in its bottle.

I’ve written here before about the weird phenomenon of the cargo cult. In that context I was describing it in order to make some points about Darwinism. But today I’d like to focus on an even less savory subject, NY Governor Andrew Cuomo. Because he clearly belongs to such a cult. His sect uses scraps and fragments of Christian morals and mores. But without knowing what they’re for or how they work.
The End of Weekend At Biden’s?

The media are treating Cuomo as the shadow legitimate president in exile, and Joe Biden like the ghost of elections past. So I suspect something is up. Maybe the Democratic National Committee has given up on its revival of Weekend At Biden’s. It wants a functioning, conscious candidate who doesn’t sniff strange women’s heads.

This doesn't have as much to do with nursing homes as much as it is the first salvo into death panels.  And since, apparently, there was so little blow-back over allowing people with emergencies to die, like heart attack victims, I would say we will see more of this.
