The director of the government’s Office of Personnel Management abruptly stepped down on Tuesday.
Dale Cabaniss resigned because of how he was treated by the head of the Presidential Personnel Office, John McEntee, and the new White House liaison and senior adviser to the director of OPM, Paul Dans, according to Politico.
Cabaniss had worked at the agency since September.
It was not immediately clear who would be named acting director of the agency.
The departure of the top official at the agency that serves as the federal government’s human resources department follows reports that McEntee is trying to fill the administration with Trump loyalists.
McEntee reportedly asked federal agencies to identify political appointees across the government who are believed to be anti-Trump.
