Are Trump Supporters Sycophants or a Gallery of Rebels?

By Karen Kataline

“It’s fair to say that much of Obama’s support was only skin-deep.”

Leftists and never-Trumpers continue to beat the drum that Trump supporters are sycophants who blindly follow Trump regardless of what he does.

Is that true? Certainly, he draws stunning crowds wherever he goes and his support seems only to be growing.

What’s the difference between sycophantism and true, solid support?  Those who make the charge aren’t likely to care since they use it to demean and dismiss those who dare to declare their support for Donald J. Trump. The bullying for doing so is legendary already.

By definition sycophantism is based in superficiality.  “Groupie, Lackie and Bootlicker” are other synonyms that come to mind.

It’s safe to say that Barack Obama had plenty of sycophants when he began his run for the Presidency. Remember when women fainted at his rallies?  Whether they were sycophants or this was planted political theater, the media didn’t make much of it when it abruptly disappeared.

Very 'Thought Provoking' piece here @KarenKataline thanks for sharing and welcome to TBR.

This is the left's favorite charge and it is ridiculous.  There are too many self-righteous 'not our sort' people in the world and they pop up way too often on this site.

I was one of those people before the election.  I'd never liked Trump.  I was for Cruz and I didn't think Trump had a chance in the hot place of winning.

But the morning after Trump defeated the horrible witch who would have completed the ruin of our country started by Obama, I had a 'road to Damascus' moment.

I was so glad that Trump did us the huge favor of winning, that I suddenly liked him for doing that and decided to give him a chance to win me over completely.  He did so from the very start.

He is a wonderful President who benefits by not being in the inner circle of politics all his life.  He sees thing outside of that box and his instincts have been right about everything.

I love that he's not a war monger, that he actually thinks about the costs in American lives and the futility of those endless wars over in sand country.  If he had not been thwarted by fanatic hate from the left and tepid support from some in his own party, I think he would have worked even more miracles.

He's waking up a lot of our Black friends who are realizing that the democrats have been using them for years.

It's easy to list all his accomplishments in trade, in the economy, in the military... well, actually, it's not easy to list, the list is so long.

But people who cling to their petty, judgmental attitude about Trump are the ones who are the robots.
Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain.

Thanks @corbe   I missed the site and you and a lot of others but too many people posting here are despicable never Trumpers.  I don't include you, even though I know you're not that fond of Trump.  It's not a matter of being fond of Trump or not, it's a matter of who is good for our country and who would absolutely destroy it and to let a petty holier than thou dislike of Trump in the face of the absolute evil on the democrat side is not only short-sighted, is insane.

Quote from: the article

Finally, there is great irony in Trump-haters calling those who support him, “sycophants.”  The best antonym I’ve found for the term “sycophant”  is “rebel.”

Trump has accomplished an amazing feat. He has brought together a gallery of rebels. They see a blatant attempt to take over our country by attacking it from within and everything for which it has ever stood.

That's a laugh-riot right there. 'Rebels' without a cause. ROTFLMAO!!

I understand your feelings about this @Emjay and many Briefers share your thoughts and muddle through the AT/NT nonsense here with just a roll of their eyes.  May Peace be unto you, my sweetness.

What a shallow question @KarenKataline   Is everything in your worldview one dimensional or just supporters of the President?

Did you even read the Article @Right_in_Virginia it's not a Trump hit piece, IMHO.

The causes of HilLIARy's defeat are approximately as many as the sum of her character & ideology defects plus her campaign mistakes. Among the latter was her Basket of Deplorables remark. Even many liberals disliked denigrating many of their family members, friends, neighbors, and coworkers that way. That seems to be a lesson many/most Progs seem not to have learned, as they are making HilLIARy's major mistake Prog dogma. As I've said elsewhere, when an extreme Prog professes to understand Rs and conservatives, stupidity and hilarity are likely to follow.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Here in the Midwest, I've had many conversations with Trump supporters. We know he's not perfect, but most support what he's done or tried to do, and mostly we like the fact he fights and defeats the liberals.

Definitely rebels.
The Republic is lost.

...."he draws stunning crowds wherever he goes and his support seems only to be growing..."   Gee, I wonder why that is??
