Christmas anthem All I Want for Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey has become a No. 1 hit 25 years after it was released.
The song was first released on Carey’s 1994 Merry Christmas album and has since become a Christmas classic, surging near the top of the charts every holiday season but never quite reaching No. 1.
Billboard announced the song finally topped the charts on Monday, noting that it was the second holiday song in history to lead the Hot 100, preceded only by The Chipmunk Song by the Chipmunks in 1958.
Carey, 49, celebrated the news over Twitter by simply writing, “We did it.â€
