One of my all-time favorite sporting moments concerns a soccer match in Thailand between Satri Angthong and Bangkok Sports Club.
The match, in 2017, had gone to a penalty shoot-out, and extraordinarily the score had reached 19-19 when a Bangkok player hit the crossbar with a thunderous shot.
Satri’s goalkeeper charged forwards to his teammates waiting on the half-way line, punching the air and leaping like a demented dolphin in wild jubilation as his opponent sank his hands to his knees in abject despair.
But the ball, which had soared off the crossbar into the stratosphere, crashed to the ground again and spun viciously in the direction of the goal.
