Congress won’t fund the one thing we need to enforce CURRENT law
Daniel Horowitz · June 21, 2019

We don’t need more “border funding” to fix a policy problem at our border, one which could be solved with the military and proper use of current law. However, we do need more funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to compensate for years of not enforcing existing law, which has created a backlog of illegal aliens, often dangerous ones, in our country with no ability to deport them. Yet, that is the one funding request Republicans refuse to push.

The border problem itself is very simple. The two problems are district court lawfare inviting millions of people to our border and the refusal of our government to treat the cartels as a national defense issue and deploy the military to hold the line at the border the way we secure parameters of other countries’ borders. None of these require funding, but policy changes. We already spend $716 billion on the military every year, much of it to secure other countries. There’s no reason we can’t secure our own border with that type of exorbitant budget.

The issue, then, is lack of interior enforcement. Thanks to endless lawfare and lack of resources, illegal aliens, including other countries’ most violent criminals and drug traffickers, remain here indefinitely. Congress addressed the lawfare in 1996 by unanimously passing a bill that ensured that any illegal immigrant caught within two years of coming here is deported immediately under “expedited removal” without any review by an immigration judge, much less a federal judge. Yet, because every administration has refused to implement that law, illegal aliens have been allowed to stay indefinitely and go through the endless lawfare system, creating a resource problem that our laws were designed to prevent.

Wow!  Really good article.  I recommend reading the entire article.  Most of us just can't understand why can't we abide by our laws?  Why do we care about securing other people's countries when we don't secure our own?

Then we wonder about the New Border spending bill.  This is Trumps very own bill.  If you broke down 3.3 billion for the cost of every illlegal immigrant being detained at 100,000 a month what would it be per illegal immigrant? $2,750 dollars for every single illegal immigrant.  Regardless of health.

Going to the Office of Refugee resettlement website you find what we are paying for.

And the point isn't even what we are paying for, its that we are planning for long term illegal immigration.  Why else would we need 3.3 billion for humanitarian?

AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Thanks for the post.  Lack of 'interior enforcement' has been going on for decades...I believe this is what Trump was threatening to address when he said he was going to start deportations; but he how walked it back for another two weeks and trying to resolve through Congress.  So we know that this too won't get done!

Will any of it get done?  What was the border spending bill about?  Yeah we need basic human rights and that is about all we can afford for this invasion.  But he puts out 3.3 billion for humanitarian at the border.  I was wondering why he would take so little when Mulvaney war re-negotiationg 1.4 or 6 billion for a wall?  And Trump just signed the deal with Mexico.  But it looks to me that Trump is planning on increased immigration for the long haul.  3.3 billion is a lot of money.  The bill is actually much more with nothing to secure the border.  He has folded on everything.

That's the way I see it.  I'm trying to think of one thing that he has followed through with on the 'border crisis' and illegal immigration that he said he was going to do.  So far, I can't think of one.

Anyone??

Yes, this "walking back" pisses me off.  Just do it Mr. President.

I'm still hoping he'll eventually start that New National Deportation Force and deport everyone here illegally and make them reapply for citizenship at the back of the line like he campaigned on.  /s
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Thru history Nation/states get the governance they deserve and tolerate.
Great nations birth and nurture great leaders and certainly not members
of our clown posse such as Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama and now Trump.
Sanctimonious and pious lefties all, just a matter of degree, their calling
cards being compassion, concern, pity, sympathy and the like.
Laws enacted represent the will of the governed but when not enforced
represent defiance and contempt, a condition that has existed for some time.
It remains to be determined if or when we will wake up as a people.

It is the same problem existing for the past 33 years since amnesty was granted in exchange for Congress increasing funds for border enforcement.

The money quote:

Hmmm...
Is this, in fact, "the law"?
That is... immediate deportation for anyone caught within "two years" of coming here?

Then, in that case, anyone caught crossing the border ought to be subject to immediate return back to THE OTHER SIDE of the border.

If Mexico tries to resist this, shoot enough Mexicans until they stop trying to resist.

I think that is the law.  If they are crossing illegally without proper paperwork, fraudulent paperwork...…….etc.
