Sears, the once-dominant retail chain that changed how Americans shopped and lived, has filed for bankruptcy.

The 132-year-old company has been struggling for several years and is drowning in debt. The final straw was a $134 million debt payment due Monday that it could not afford.

Sears Holdings (SHLD), the parent company of Sears and Kmart, is among dozens of prominent retailers to declare bankruptcy in the era of Amazon (AMZN).

Good grief. Sears has been in financial trouble ever since I can remember. Didn't they by out Kmart?  A loser store buying out another loser store and then they decided to open up various locations of just selling appliances.  Another losing proposition.  Poorly managed.  They deserve to fold.

Maybe, but I feel a little pang of regret about it... kind of nostalgia thing.  But Amazon is killing a lot of retail stores.

Yes, Amazon has captured the retail market and is killing brick and mortar.  They have a monopoly on everything especially with prime members paying nothing in shipping and there have been times when I haven't been asked to return an item, they have just taken my word for it and sent me a new one!

The have changed the way America shops for sure and I'm really not so sure it's a good things as it's costing jobs and will cost more jobs in the future.

I can't help but reflect on an article that I read regarding the new generation of retirees in their campers making deliveries for Amazon in order to sustain.  What a way to live.  What's going to happen to these people when they can no longer drive?
