Summer just ended, but CDC officials are already urging people to prepare for another potentially nasty flu season
There were "epidemic levels" of influenza or pneumonia for 16 consecutive weeks during last year's flu season.
The CDC estimates that more than 700,000 people were hospitalized with the flu during the 2017-2018 season.
CDC recommends getting vaccinated early, ideally by the end of October, before flu starts spreading.
