6.2 earthquake off the coast of Oregon shakes the Pacific Coast, prompting fears that the area could soon be hit by a tsunami

    A 6.2 magnitude earthquake was reported off the coast of south-central Oregon
    United States Geological Survey says an initial quake struck just after 1.30am
    It led to an aftershock with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 about two hours later
    Area does not face a tsunami threat according to Robert Sanders of the USGS
    Tremblor within area that has been affected by 70 earthquakes in 48 hours
