Sitting Too Much May Be Bad for Your Memory
A study suggests that it can reduce the thickness in a key brain area

According to a new study, sitting for long periods may be harmful to the brain.

En español | You’re going to want to get up from your chair after you read this. A new study by UCLA researchers indicates a link between sitting for long periods and reduced thickness of a brain region integral to the formation of new memories.

In the study, published in the journal PLOS ONE, the researchers recruited 35 people between the ages of 45 and 75 and asked about their level of physical activity and the average number of hours each day they spent sitting during the previous week. In addition, the subjects were given MRI scans so that the researchers could look at their medial temporal lobes.

I have found that lately I will get up from my chair and go to another room in the house when I get there I will have forgotten what I wanted in that room.  So I turn around and go back and sit down.  The second my butt hits the seat, I will remember.
So, I have come to the conclusion that as you get older your brain moves to your butt.   To test my theory I do one simple thing.  If I ever forget what I went to the kitchen for, I just reach around and grab my ass.   Whala, just like magic I remember!

This study must therefor be true.

I heard a televangelist say "Speak it into existence". If I want to remember something, I have to say it out loud.

It definitely helps.  And after you co-workers start making fun of you for talking to yourself, you will remember it longer.

It's not the sitting, it's the walking through a doorway.
