Government Reorg Plan Greeted Without Fanfare
« on: June 21, 2018, 07:14:50 pm »
The Trump administration’s proposal to reorganize the federal government won’t likely be moving to the top of the Senate agenda anytime soon.

“This effort, along with the recent executive orders on federal unions, are the biggest pieces so far of our plan to drain the swamp,” OMB Director Mick Mulvaney said of the proposals. “I am eager to work with my colleagues across the executive branch and in Congress to deliver a more trusted and efficient government that puts the American taxpayer first.”

Some of the proposals have already proven to be non-starters, like an effort to privatize the operation of air traffic control towers, which currently fall under the Federal Aviation Administration. Republicans on Capitol Hill have basically abandoned that idea in the current effort to reauthorize the FAA.

Oh, I dunno.

It is likely beneficial to say reduce the amount of agencies that distribute welfare benefits from 34 to a couple.

Anything that clearly reduces the number of federal employees and contractors will be certainly a plus.
