Except FOX News tried to milk it in the other direction and got egg on their face. Quite a nutritious breakfast.

https://sports.yahoo.com/eagles-star-slams-fox-news-misleading-anthem-video-134637529.html

From the article:

Quote
The term “fake news” gets thrown around an awful lot, often by people who use it to discredit factual news reports that paint them in an unflattering light. But when Fox News shows images of players kneeling in prayer, and tries to pass off prayer as “protest,” that’s the very definition of fake news.
I adore facts and data and abhor lies and liars.

Word in Philly is that not enough players were going to attend so Trump cancelled.  The President does like him some big crowds.

It's not about big crowds.  It's about showing respect to the nation.... if not to the office of the Presidency.   If someone isn't willing to do that.....

they don't deserve the invite.

Kinda funny that the Democrat Philly Mayor criticized Trump for canceling the visit but not the players for refusing to go.

@Restored

You're talking about a town and fans that once booed Santa Claus and cheered when Michael Irvin was carted off the field with a career ending neck injury.

I'm not surprised at all that the mayor provided cover for the team.

There's not a lot of class left in Philly...it's politicians or it's sports fans.

There was also the warm welcome given to Vikings fans during the championship game.

Perhaps in reality the Eagles players were afraid they'd get the same kind of reception by fans of every other NFL team in the league when they rolled up to the WH?.  :silly:

As long as it's my guy (R) dissing on the GS Warriors also, I'm kewl with it.

It is not Trump dissing the Eagles it is the Eagles that are dissing Trump. Screw them, another
reason not to ever watch the NFL again.

Assuming the Capitals win the Cup, you can bet every single one of them will go to the White House.

They won the super bowl as a team, they should have RSVP’d as a team. The president was right to disinvite.

I find it funny that of all of the four major sports, football, is the one that is composed almost exclusively of Americans, and yet they are the most disloyal.

It’s not very surprising, when you consider a team roster make up and the fact the protests are BLM related.

This is true.  And full disclosure...I was a Sixers fan in the early 80's when Dr. J and Maurice Cheeks were on the team.

Jordan gets the ‘Air’ title, but I don’t think his vertical can match Dr. J or David Thompson.

PENN not needed in 2020 I guess?  This is stupid.  So what if some players won’t attend. Honor those that will.

I wasn't there, but there were many of us who donated to Vikings charities and sent emails and letters to the Vikings, their fans and others to express our sincere displeasure at how they had been treated and attempt to make some kind of amends.

Not all Philly fans are jerks, just look around at all of the sports venues and you'll find jerks everywhere.  Seems Philly is an easy target for previous sins.

As for me?  I won't go to Chavez Ravine any longer when the Phillies are in town because I might get the crap beat out of me or even killed.

How's that for a "warm welcome"?

See what Goodell has wrought?

He had free publicity to get his cartel back in shape before the public eyes and decided to let a few players continue a disrespectful stunt which extraordinarily few Americans support.

Roger has the knife even deeper into the game.

It's a privilege not a right for these overpaid jocks to have their photo op with the President and visit the White House.

Somehow these teams/athletes have gotten that fact twisted.

Probably because super athletes have been pampered and given things they didn't deserve since they were in Middle School.

They feel eve more entitled than the average millennial......... and that's bad.

I hate the Eagles.

I love any team that beats the Patriots and humiliates Tom Brady for one year.

Then it's back to normal.

Right now, I'm still loving me some Eagles.  ^-^

That is my dog in the avatar picture. It was taken right after Foles scored the touchdown on their QB gadget play. I was laughing really hard, since Brady had dropped the ball on a similar play earlier in the game. She was a bit concerned for my safety, because I thought it was so hysterical.
