Armed Cartels Decimating California Wildlife With Massive Pot Farms, Official Says

WASHINGTON—Cartels are setting up armed camps in California forests and growing massive crops of marijuana, according to Stacey Montgomery, District Attorney of Lassen County, California.

“They are armed. They’re setting up camps, and they’re growing mass amounts of marijuana on our public lands,” Montgomery told the president during a roundtable at the White House on May 17.

“A large portion of these people that are coming in to do this are illegal immigrants.”

Stories on growing pot on public lands and mainly in California, have been in the news for a long time. I don't see why we can't catch them better.

The article also makes mention of the various cartels, organized crime outfits and even mentions motorcycle gangs and Russian organized crime. I was following a conversation on crime in Chicago, and they referred also to Eastern Europeans being involved in the crime in Chicago. Who knows?

You would think in this day and age of genetic manipulation they should be able to come up with a defoliant that only targets cannabis. You would also think that the licensed growers in California and other states would support such research.
