Dershowitz: Mueller performing 'legal colonoscopy,' never should have been appointed
By Joe Concha - 03/20/18 11:51 AM EDT

Lawyer Alan Dershowitz on Tuesday said Democrats are "fueling the speculation" around President Trump possibly firing special counsel Robert Mueller, adding that "there never should have been an appointment of special counsel."

"That would create a real problem on the Republican side of the aisle. I don’t think he’ll fire him or should fire him," he added.

"America's Newsroom" anchor Sandra Smith pressed Dershowitz on Trump's weekend tweets.

What a stupid analogy.  A colonoscopy is performed when there are symptoms or you fall into a category of risk.

May I hijack this thread for this little PSA:

Which brings us to you, Mr. or Mrs. or Miss or Ms. Over-50-And-Hasn't-Had-a-Colonoscopy. Here's the deal: You either have colo-rectal cancer, or you don't. If you do, a colonoscopy will enable doctors to find it and do something about it. And if you don't have cancer, believe me, it's very reassuring to know you don't. There is no sane reason for you not to have it done.

I am so eager for you to do this that I am going to induce you with an Exclusive Limited Time Offer. If you, after reading this, get a colonoscopy, let me know by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to Dave Barry Colonoscopy Inducement, The Miami Herald, 3511 NW 91st Ave., Miami, FL, 33172. I will send you back a certificate, signed by me and suitable for framing if you don't mind framing a cheesy certificate, stating that you are a grown-up who got a colonoscopy.

Weirdly enough, someone over 50 in America who has not had a previous exam falls into the risk category, especially given our dietary and exercise habits.

More to the point - you’re a patient with  decades long associations with people who have criminal histories and Russian connections like Felix Sater.  You’ve made multiple attempts to establish your business in a country, knowing full well what kind of toxic people you’ll need to deal with to get things done.  You tout people with Russian connections and little experience, some of whom have been under previous authority scrutiny, as part of your foreign policy team.  You hire a campaign manager with Russian ties through past questionable work with Ukrainians.  Family members contribute to the risk factors by holding inadvisable meetings.  For decades, you’ve run a business model that keeps outside scrutiny away, so you’ve never been examined.

A legal colonoscopy is perfectly in order and you’d better hope Manafort and others discovered during the exam are just Peutz-Jeghers Polyps.

Considering I deal with a-holes here all the time, I guess I should be. Incidentally, I happen to work on medical equipment used in surgery and oncology, so I'm probably more familiar with unsavory aspects of the human body than I'd like to be.

Would Mr. Dershowitz be willing to accept an appointment as a second special counsel, to investigate wrongdoings by the FBI, former obama administration, DNC, and other "alphabet agencies"...?

Well, hopefully @edpc isn't holding himself out to be an expert in metaphors.

Considering you're the Eddie Kessler of this forum, your opinion on my metaphors doesn't mean much.

 @edpc ...

Your took Dershowitz's  very astute metaphor literally .... and drove off the road.

This is not a bad thing, just a "thing".   ^-^

It's not an astute metaphor and neither is Dershowitz on this.  There was plenty to justify the investigation on this, even if nobody ever heard of Steele.  The person who looked into the FISA abuses, Trey Gowdy even says so....

"To the extent the memo deals with the dossier and the FISA process, the dossier has nothing to do with the meeting at Trump Tower," Gowdy said. "The dossier has nothing to do with an email sent by Cambridge Analytica. The dossier really has nothing to do with George Papadopoulos' meeting in Great Britain. It also doesn't have anything to do with obstruction of justice."

https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/04/politics/trey-gowdy-memo/index.html

So, perhaps on this particular legal matter, I'll take the word of the seasoned prosecutor and someone who has actually worked with the material over the lawyer whose biggest claim to fame is the idea OJ was framed for murder by the LAPD.
