A lot of crime is associated with drug trafficking too. So, there are the overdoses and then, there are these others.

As Trump said during the campaign, that is another reason to build the wall, do all to halt trafficking. They catapult it over the border. It's a real problem. I don't know if one wants to go lenient on drugs like marijuana, clearly, some states have.

Singapore is about one half the size of Los Angeles. One might want to look for other examples.

No matter what, it doesn't go away
They move it through Miami, sell it in L.A. They hide it up in Telluride
I mean it's here to stay
It's propping up the governments in Columbia and Peru
You ask any D.E.A. man He'll say "there's nothin' we can do"
From the office of the President Right down to me and you, me and you...
"I'm a man, but I changed, because I had to. Oh well."

Poppa Ron Paul stirred up some debate, when he almost seemed to take the libertarian position of just decriminalizing drugs in the debates for 2012:

We are not going to legalize heroin and cocaine. These drug wars may well be what is at the root of a lot of the killing in the inner city, places like Chicago. So, this is far reaching.

Just throwing it out for debate as mentioned in an earlier post makes sense, something should be done.

I have no problem with it.  It beats what Obama was doing which is to flood our streets with drug dealers by just arbitrarily releasing them from prison.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

Does it have to be either death penalty, or no enforcement?

Depends.  I'm all for returning to the strict penalties for drug dealers that we used to have.

As far as the death penalty...if you have someone dealing drugs and the way they cut them results in people dying from how you mixed the ingredients...they yes you should get the death penalty.

We had a problem where I live last year with heroin being cut with elephant tranquilizer as well as fentanyl and in resulted several deaths.

Whoever put that crap on the streets needs the death penalty applied to their sentence.

Then they should be charged with murder.  I'd like to see a few less documentaries about wrongful imprisonment before I'm comfortable expanding the death penalty, but you have a powerful argument and I'm not predisposed to defend drug dealers.

I am of the opinion that if your drug or stash can be traced to a drug overdose - yes, the death penalty should be on the table.  I am also of the  opinion that after more than one drug dealing conviction or being caught with a large enough amount of drugs, it should also be on the table.
