Kasich releases gun reform proposals for Ohio
By Brett Samuels - 03/01/18 02:19 PM EST

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) on Thursday announced a series of proposals aimed at curbing gun violence in the state, including improved background checks and a law providing a recourse to take a dangerous person’s weapons.

“We want to make sure that we can bring greater safety to the state, but at the same time not frightening people who believe very strongly in their ability to practice the Second Amendment,” Kasich said at a news conference.

Kasich convened a group of state leaders in November to come up with policies that would address gun violence in Ohio.

Kasich’s other major proposals unveiled on Thursday involved updating the state’s background check systems and imposing a punishment on jurisdictions that fail to update the state registry.

That’s actually a good idea, but it can’t be just a fine or something inconsequential.

Kasick has also been in favor of banning the "scary" rifles and "Universal" I.E.  no private sales, background checks.

Both are non starters with me.

They aren’t mentioned in this particular release, but it would not surprise me, given his involvement with the 1994 ban. While I was a resident of Ohio, he was very good on gun laws and even expanded a few aspects of concealed carry. All the weapons I used to *ahem* own were purchased in OH while he was in office.

Kasick was on tv after this last shooting crowing about... to paraphrase, "What right would you lose if the AR was banned".

You are correct that is not in this article, it is pretty "clean" and non-threanening. Haveing read other info on what he proposes , sure both banning "military" style rifles, magazine size and "Universal" transfers are in it.
