A week after a Florida gunman killed 17 people at his former high school, a Miami student flashed his assault-style rifle on social media, but police say he wasn’t a threat.
The student, who wasn’t named, attends Terra Environmental Research Institute in West Kendall and he appeared in a Snapchat post brandishing a rifle with a caption that read: “Here’s a fat F--K YOU to everyone.â€
School police spoke with the student and his parents before determining he wasn’t a threat to others, the Miami New Times reported. No charges were filed.
“Miami-Dade Schools Police thoroughly investigated this incident, and although the student’s actions clearly demonstrated a lack of judgment, they did not constitute a threat,†a Miami-Dade County Public Schools spokesman said in a statement to the Miami New Times. “School administrators will be meeting with the student’s parents to discuss possible disciplinary measures, as outlined in the Code of Student Conduct.â€
