North African long range scout turned down the SAS as they weren't professional enough

Tears occasionally well up in the eyes of “Lofty” Carr as he sits in the garden of his home in Oxton and recalls his days serving with the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) during World War II .

But at times it’s about what this brilliant former navigator who once turned down the SAS DOESN’T say regarding the horrific things he saw and lived through. And he doesn’t need to say certain things, because they are all there in his eyes.
