Want to prevent heart disease? Go nuts!
People who incorporate more nuts into their diet often make better lifestyle choices overall, including healthy nutrition choices and regular exercise.

Avoiding heart disease may be a nutty idea.

That’s the conclusion of a new study of more than 210,000 U.S. adults tracked for 32 years. Researchers found that those who regularly ate peanuts, walnuts, cashews and other nuts had a lower risk of heart disease.

The findings “support recommendations of increasing the intake of a variety of nuts, as part of healthy dietary patterns, to reduce the risk of chronic disease,” said study author Marta Guasch-Ferre. She is a research fellow in the department of nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Good.   Nuts are my go-to snack these days.  The others have too much salt, sugar and unhealthy fat with no discernible health benefits.

Good.   Nuts are myn o-to snack these days.  The others have too much salt, sugar and unhealthy fat with no discernible health benefits.

I generally eat a handful of pecans every day.
