Despite President Trump’s push to build a wall along the southern border of the United States, no contracts have been awarded to construction firms and construction has yet to begin.

Homeland Security had planned to begin construction on four to eight 30-foot tall prototypes Thursday near San Diego, according to a Friday report in the San Diego Union-Tribune.

A Customs and Border Protection spokesman told the paper that bids are still being reviewed but that prototype designs “will be selected for construction in summer 2017.”

Hundreds of companies bid on building the border wall in February. $20 million was allotted for prototypes. Contractors had until March 10 to submit a prototype concept paper, followed by a formal request for proposal by March 24.
