Secretary of State Rex Tillerson asked European diplomats during a Tuesday meeting why American taxpayers should care about Ukraine, according to a Bloomberg Politics report.

“Why should U.S. taxpayers be interested in Ukraine?” Tillerson asked the foreign ministers, known as the “Group of Seven," during what Bloomberg said was an offhand remark at meetings in Lucca, Italy.

Well, he has a point.

That's not to say, nor was he implying, that we should offer Russia carte blanche to run wild over the Ukraine. What he IS saying is that the conflict in Ukraine is not at the core of US national interests abroad, nor is it of critical importance to average Americans. In the big picture, we DO care that Russia operates within international norms of behavior in its relation to other nations....in particular towards former Republics of the USSR. But this must be looked at within the context of our relations in general with the Russians. Its not in our interest to make Ukraine the epicenter of our foreign policy nor of our interactions with the Mr Putin.

I would like to know the same question. The Ukraine is run by a radical muslim puppet of Putin. It is a lost cause. If we are going to waste a minute over there it should be backing up the other countries in the region to keep Putin out of their countries.
