Iraq army seizes key Mosul bridge in ISIS battle
« on: February 28, 2017, 12:10:51 am »
Irbil, Iraq (CNN)The Iraqi army says it has recaptured a bridge across the Tigris River in west Mosul, where fierce battles are ongoing to oust ISIS from its last bastion in Iraq.
While all five bridges linking the government-held eastern Mosul to the western part have been destroyed, the takeover of the fourth bridge will allow Iraqi forces to lay a ramp over the broken part and open a supply route from east.
"The Rapid Response Forces of the Iraqi Federal Police completely liberated al-Jawsaq neighborhood and control the fourth bridge... Iraqi flags are now raised on buildings, and heavy casualties were inflicted on ISIS," Lt. Gen. Abdel Amir Rasheed Yarallah of the Joint Operations Command said Monday.

More winning.  And yes, Trump is allowing the embeds to call in airstrikes when needed to suppress ISIS forces.  Bush and Obama did not have strong enough Rules of Engagement.

Of course, CNN whines about the humanitarian situation, as if the  atrocities were not the fault of ISIS.

The new plan will reportedly counter ISIS not only in Syria and Iraq, but also in Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya and southeast Asia.

Part of the plan may include the deployment of conventional ground forces to Syria, according to a CNN report earlier this month.

President Donald Trump made a campaign promise to finally defeat ISIS. He directed the Pentagon to present him with a new plan shortly after taking office.

@don-o   Mattis better hurry and present his plan.  At the rate ISIS is losing in Syria and Iraq, it may be defeated before the plan can be approved!   :patriot: :patriot:

U.S. commanders have suggested that the new plan would involve U.S. troops moving closer to the front lines while still avoiding ground combat. Trump has said he would favor the creation of "safe zones" for refugees in Syria, which would require large numbers of U.S. troops to police and protect them, but there was no immediate indication that the Mattis plan included safe zones.

I think 4,000 is enough to qualify as a crime against humanity.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2017/02/27/revealed-near-mosul-an-enormous-isis-mass-grave.html

The 40-year-old was pulled off the road to witness the slaughter four times. He was forced to watch the murder of his cousin, a police officer.

By the end, the bodies had piled so high that they could be seen from the edge of the hole, he says. The once seemingly bottomless pit had been filled with carnage.

Around 4,000 people were killed at Khasfa, according to an estimate by Human Rights Watch, which has been tracking the sinkhole via satellite since it first heard of the massacre.

I can support safe zones and even American involvement to see to their creation. Then, how about NATO countries agree to assume the bulk of responsibility for their security?

Below that Blaze piece about the mass grave is a story about ISIS use of commercially available drones to drop grenades. (Report says they are already doing it.) Imagine that scenario in our major cities or at an outdoor stadium / ball park.

btw, Gorka is on Breitbart News Daily, among other things, mentions Sweden.

Meanwhile, more attention is diverted to Kellyanne Conway on the Oval Office Sofa, taking a photo.
