Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) said late Friday that his committee would investigate possible contacts between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia, reversing himself one day after telling reporters that the issue would be outside of his panel’s ongoing probe into Moscow’s election-disruption efforts.

Burr and the intelligence panel’s top Democrat, Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, said in a joint statement that the committee's probe would touch on "intelligence regarding links between Russia and individuals associated with political campaigns" as well as Russian cyberattacks and other election meddling outlined in an intelligence report released last week.

The committee will use “subpoenas if necessary” to secure testimony from Obama administration officials as well as Trump’s team, Burr and Warner said.

I suppose this is necessary but it just gives the democrats, and McCain, more of a platform to spout their typical bulls*t.

Another part of me wants to deny them it because does anyone really think it will stop here? They plan on running hearings and screaming their outrage to any reporter with a microphone. It will be one scandal - some perhaps ligit but most fabricated - right after another for the next four years.

Like Trump or hate him, we should all hope his administration has a chance to do some good. The MSM and democrats aim to not even allow him to come up for air.

....

This is exactly the position that many on the right adopted after O's election.....

It would be in the best interest of every American if the political process was not a game of perpetual pay back and gotcha but that's just not the way it is in 2017. I don't know when if ever the way it is now will change for the better but I do know it won't change under Trump...

Except we're not talking about a powerless, near voiceless minority of rank and file. We're talking about the political class, the entrenched bureaucracy and 90% of the media. There simply is no historical equivalent for what the statist have planned now.

Maybe it won't change under Trump but my point is the left does not intend to let it get even that far. They are upending the card table.

Our entire political system, and maybe more, is teetering on the edge of the abyss.

Really...Partisans on both sides can't help but be partisan, I get that. When their guy is elected they want the other side stand down. When O was elected, McConnell vowed to do everything in his power to  prevent his reelection in four years. Talk radio pounded O daily, throw in the birthers and other crackpots and I don't really see any difference between the last eight years and the next four or eight. The Jersey has changed and both sides will feign sincere outrage.

The fact that these two candidates were even on the ballot shows the country has entered the abyss IMO...I have no confidence that we will ever recover regardless of who is POTUS

Let's see...the DEMS called for intelligence groups to undermine Trump's presidency, so my hunch is they're going to come up with some connection ... Trump will call it fake news ... so who the heck do we believe?

I never imagined that the left would stoop so low.  As it looks now, I see civil unrest in our near future.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Couldn't agree more @libertybele , this is Bush/Gore on steroids, this is the 68 dem convention on acid.
The last time I saw this much animosity was in a thread here a couple of days ago.
But still, Trump has his little hands full, I'm counting on him taking the advice of his counsel.

Pretty sad when we need Russia to help us win an election.

Sorry for any confusion but I am going to modify this post.  Reason being that it wasn't only Hillary that Trump and Putin targeted.  The fake news that was promoted against Ted Cruz' father is suspected of coming from Russia also.

A person really needs to ask themselves why were Russians so desperate for Trump?

Russia behind bogus story about Ted Cruz's dad pushed by Trump, National Enquirer

Accuracy in Media:

Until Tuesday, political observers thought Donald J. Trump got information about foreign affairs from the Sunday shows. Then we learned that he had relied on an unsubstantiated story in the National Enquirer for the facts about the assassination of John F.Kennedy.

The charges were classic Russian disinformation. These had a double purpose—taking attention away from the communist conspiracy that actually murdered President Kennedy, and transferring the notoriety to Trump’s political opponent in the U.S. presidential race.

The attack on Cruz’s father, publicized by Trump on the Fox News Channel, was taken directly from the National Enquirer but has also been transmitted by a series of outlets known to be part of Moscow’s global propaganda apparatus, and some lesser-known left-wing, or “progressive,” sites. One name that figures prominently in several of the reports and who apparently “broke” the story is Wayne Madsen, who claims all kinds of high-level intelligence connections. Until the Cruz story, his main claim to fame was being the source for a story in the Globe—another supermarket tabloid—which alleged that President George W. Bush was having an extramarital affair with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

A regular contributor to the Russia Today and Iranian Press TV propaganda channels, Madsen has also alleged that Barack Obama and/or his family members had CIA connections. He highlights the work of his grandmother in his bio, calling her “a newspaper reporter and editor for Land og Folk as well as a novelist.” Land og Folk was a Danish language communist newspaper. One of Madsen’s admitted journalism icons is I.F. Stone, exposed as a Soviet agent of influence.
 ...
Ther is much more.

This is just more evidence of Trump's lack of judgment and his lack of integrity.  He either knew or should have known this was a bogus story, but he is instead relying on unsubstantiated stories int eh National Enquirer for his intel.  Some in the conservative media have been trying to smooth over things with those who do not trust Trump, but this episode on adds more evidence to their case.

Oh and by the way the DNC was all accepting of that.
