Home is home.

For me I found that I would rather get by at home than go away and be prosperous. In about 1984 I went to Texas (Frisco) and figured out within a few months that it just wasn't for me. It was too hot, too dry, too flat, too open. I did spend a couple weeks in Longview which was a lot more like home but I was determined to return to my Michigan swamps, hills and woods.

I don't live in my hometown anymore but I'm only about 30 miles away. I moved to this side of the county because jobs pay better across the county line in Washtenaw. One sister lives in our hometown and my liberal sister lives in Livonia. She's always trying to convince me that I need to live in the city where things are so much better. Both of my stepsisters live within 20 miles of their hometown as well. My hometown is too big for me these days. I went from 300 people to where I live now with about 75 people.

The only place I'm ever likely to move and stay is further north here in Michigan. I have yet to find a rural place in Michigan that I don't like.
