WASHINGTON, Oct. 5, 2016 — The liberation of Mosul, Iraq, from the control of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant fighters is inevitable, Canadian Armed Forces Brig. Gen. Dave J. Anderson of Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve told Pentagon reporters here today.

Speaking via teleconference from Baghdad, OIR’s director of partner force development and the ministerial liaison team said, as the U.S.-led coalition continues to support Iraqi security forces’ operations to seize Mosul, that he has “every confidence” in the Iraqi security forces’ ability to retake Mosul.

“The Iraqis have proven time and again they can and will conduct complex and decisive operations and that they have the will to defeat [ISIL],” Anderson said.
