Egypt denies rumors that an assassination plot against al-Sisi kept him away from Arab summit

Egypt’s presidential office denied rumors on Monday that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is not attending the Arab League summit in Mauritania this week due to a suspected assassination plot.

Anonymous sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm the Egyptian intelligence had gained information about a planned attack on the president during his visit to the Mauritanian capital of Nouakchott for the summit. But presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef told Daily News Egypt that this was not the reason for the president’s cancellation.

Not sure if this story has credibility but so it is published.

Almost all of the Arab world leaders skipped the  Arab League Summit...... Lol so much for Arab unity?

Not only did el-Sisi not show....but Saudi Salman did not make an appearance , nor Jordon's Abdullah, or Abbas......coupled with no shows from Tunisia and Algeria.  All principle players.

Interesting photo of the very first Arab Summit....this was in 1946 in Cairo with all then 13 member states....Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia, Kuwait and Algeria. Which oddly enough are the very ones who were no shows to this one....

I understand the reasons they won't go as basically Summit ends up all talk and no action on the real concerns of their individual countries lack of leadership to include it's citizens....rather than the 'love me and obey me' leadership most have held for decades.

It's unfortunate, for the Arab people, that there is more wealth in the Arab region than any other part of the world but there are more displaced, hungry, insecure  people more than any other part of the world.
