 Hell, No
No, Republicans should not come around to Trump.
By Kevin D. Williamson — July 1, 2016

Two things: First, it is impossible for a mentally and emotionally normal adult to support Donald Trump’s bid for the presidency without calling into question his judgment or his honor. Second, it is easier to forgive defective judgment than deficient honor.

Trump is out whining like the spoiled little princess he is and always has been that his fellow Republican presidential contenders, having been vanquished, are not making good on their promise to support the GOP nominee, presumably himself. Trump is of course absolutely correct that Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, et al. did make that promise, and that to withhold their support now would constitute violating a solemn promise made in public to their supporters.

Breaking that promise is absolutely the right thing to do.

It isn’t Ted Cruz’s fault, or John Kasich’s, or Marco Rubio’s, or Jeb Bush’s, that the American public in free and fair
elections chose two major-party candidates whose preening self-regard, dishonesty, moral cowardice, and incompetence is
in each candidate’s case the best and only argument for the other candidate.

Well done, America.

Cruz and the rest should not be bullied into accepting the nonsense that refusing to go in for Trump is a vote for Mrs.
Clinton. It isn’t. Declining to support Trump is an act of integrity and good taste. It isn’t anything Cruz or Bush has done
that makes Trump unsupportable — that is Trump’s doing, and no one else’s.

If there is a revolt in Cleveland — as there should be — it will be entirely understandable, and justifiable. If the delegates
end up playing fast and loose with the nomination rules, it may be that the Republican party needs some new ones — the
Democratic party and its undemocratic “superdelegate” system sure is looking smart right about now: They didn’t need
McGovern to tell them twice.

Says it all.

To my knowledge Cruz hasn't "refused" to support Trump. As he said prior....there's lots of time before the election for endorsements.

I think he's leaving all options out there as he will carefully determine the time and place where his position and delegates will make the

most difference when it counts that it does.

I think people want to pigeonhole Cruz  in a particular way.....the man is his own man and will do or not accordingly.

That’s the luxury of being a roving journalist. ....you don’t have to form an opinion on an issue,  simply attack the holder of an opinion with which you disagree.... By the end of his article you have no new information except he doesn't like Trump.

Typical libertarian....which I suspect he is...not exactly someone I'd write home to mama about, with his dangling ear-ring and all....

We call them Trump supporters, they hate Ted Cruz with an unbending passion.

I agree, no one needs to endorse anyone until the convention comes.
There's no need to panic.
Trump won't get the nomination taken from him, no matter how many conspiracies theories there are.
Cruz won't attempt it.
He has certain things he wants the party to stand for and his delegates do give him some leverage there, but it won't be an outright revolt.
He'll want to guarantee 1st and 2nd amendment rights, things like that.
This will be a good thing, when it all shakes out.
I believe that.

1st and 2nd amendment rights are things Trump has already shown he despises.

I think that's where Cruz and co. negotiate before or during the convention, to get Trump's pledge on things like that.
If Trump wins and falters, he'll rip him a new one from the Senate floor.
It would be a win/win.
Trump does the right things, and we are all happy, Trump does the wrong things, and Cruz reminds us of that, and sets himself up for a future run.

Trumpets forgive his numerous faux pas on the 2nd amendment because "His sons are big-game hunters and know about guns." I remind them that the sons aren't ones running for POTUS, are they?!
2016 shows that most so-called conservatives & liberals want a tyrant, not a leader; Americans want a monarchy, not a republic.
