Supreme Court upholds college affirmative action program

06/23/16 10:17 AM EDT

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday to uphold a program that helped minority students get into the University of Texas, in a decision with sweeping implications for affirmative action-based admissions programs at the nation’s public colleges and universities.

In a 4-3 ruling, the court decided that the Texas program that admits some students based on a consideration of race is constitutional.

4-3?  Don't we have eight Justices?

It amazes me that equal still means unequal.

Kagen recused herself so it was one of the GOP-nominated Justices who went with the lefties.  Probably Kennedy again.

Yes, it was Kennedy. Alito, Thomas, and Roberts were the three dissenting votes.

According to ScotusBlog, the majority opinion was 20 pages long, Alito's dissenting opinion was 50 pages long.
Let it burn.

Someone point to me that section of the constitution that okays race-based preferential treatment. Someone point to me that part of the constitution that mentions race, period.
By allowed something as unconstitutional as affirmative action the courts are basically rejecting the idea promoted in the Declaration of Independence that all men (i.e. people) are created equal.
Colleges can give preferences based on income or need. But it cannot do so based on "race." By giving scholarships or help based on skin color, the court effectively discriminates against persons who do not have the same skin color.  Strictly unconstitutional. Because according to the constitution, race does not exist.

I think I read that book a couple times...

This is just a coming attraction for the real shitshow... when the Trannies, Queerz, and the other sort of mental cases out there are granted preferred enrollment status in the nation's universities.  Hell, we are about there now.

It's in a penumbra! Apparently there is a lot of stuff written there that us mere mortals cannot see or read!
