Donald Trump’s immigration and labor reform policies would force down unemployment, pressure companies to raise Americans’ wages and salaries, and even make housing cheaper for young families, according to a supposedly critical report by Moody’s Analytics now being cited by Trump’s critics, including Hillary Clinton.

The formal unemployment rate would immediately drop by a third, from 5 percent in 2016 to 3.5 percent in 2017, the report predicts. Housing prices would drop by almost 4 percent in 2018 and 2019, says the Moody’s report.

The prediction complements Trump’s repeated populist argument on the campaign trail that large-scale immigration reduces Americans’ salaries.

Hillary Clinton's open borders immigration policies will drive down wages for all Americans – and make everyone less safe.

'The departure of foreign migrants also cut the state government’s welfare costs by roughly $430 million per year, the WSJ reported.'

'All those economic, social and technological benefits emerged from only a 40 percent drop in illegal population caused by the state’s modest reforms that Trump is now pitching to all Americans.'

If he accomplishes JUST the immigration plans and some of the tax reforms, we will start to recover.

Bullshit.

Electing Donald Trump president would be terrible for the economy, according to a new report from Moody's Analytics.

The super rich would get richer and everyone else would be worse off, Moody's concludes.

Just how bad would it get? The downturn under a President Trump would last longer than the Great Recession. About 3.5 million Americans would lose their jobs, unemployment would jump back to 7%, home prices would fall, and the stock market would plummet, Moody's predicts.

Don't you just love that--the "formal unemployment rate".  What's the "informal" rate?   :smokin:

further... 'Real immigration reform puts the needs of working people first – not wealthy globetrotting donors. We are the only country in the world whose immigration system puts the needs of other nations ahead of our own. That must change.'

It's why Trump appeals to the millions of blue collar unemployed who are trying to make ends meet.

I think it actually calculates to somewhere around 42%.

Wow.  I've read reports of it being in the 20-25% range.

I had actually done the calculation myself at one point.  I will have to go back and do it over again and will post the numbers here.

“As the immigrants leave, the already-tight labor market will get tighter, pushing up labor costs as employers struggle to fill the open job positions,” the report acknowledged. “Mr. Trump’s immigration policies will thus result in … potentially severe labor shortages, and higher labor costs,” the critical report promises.

There is no way the author can claim this and know whether it is accurate or not.  We don't know what Trump's immigration plan actually is.  He *says* he will make the illegals leave and then have some "expedited" process for their return.  Well, what does expedited mean in Trumpspeak?  Does it mean they're gone for a weekend?  Does it mean they're gone for a year?  This is why I've been so critical or Trump's immigration plan.  We don't know what it is, so to say it's going to have some big impact on our economy and/or citizens' employment is really disingenuous.

Kids here in eastern PA without college degrees are mostly working part-time seasonal jobs.  Small business start-ups are evident in the parking lots with small company names on the doors - mostly services.

Labor Force Participation Rate = 62.6% (May 2016, bureau of labor statistics)
US Population = 324,000,000
People working or looking for job = 0.626x324,000,000 = 202,824,000
Employed usually working full time = 123,135,000 (May 2016)
Employed usually work part time = 27,936,000 (May 2016)
Total Employed full or part time = 123,135,000 + 27,936,000 =  151,071,000
Rate of employment  = 74.5%
Rate of unemployment = 25.5%

These are my quick and dirty calcs based on BLS data.  Here's a website that must do the calcs similar to the way I did it, though I did not analyze their calcs to see how we are the same or different.  http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_data/unemployment-charts  But they come up with 23% unemployment rate.

I say both articles are baloney.  How can Trumps Immigration policy going to improve wages for Americans?  His plan is no different than Hillary.  Jobs for illegal immigrants.  He just wants to give them a vacation home so he can bring them back through his big beautiful door.  Not talking about his touchback amnesty again are they?  Hillary just doesn't spend American money shuffling them back and forth.  Her plan is to leave them put and roll out the welcome mats for others wanting to come.  There is no way Trump is changing spots.  He hires illegals.  Always has.  And he doesn't pay them.....LOL!

And Trump with his higher taxes on goods coming into the country.  There goes any hopes we have for a raise.  After our small business has to pay 45% more for our parts from China the boss will say no raise.  Cost of living goes up.  More money for avocado's, and tomato's.

And all in all.  The only real difference.  Illegals will be legal by the touchback amnesty.  Still come and collect all of the social benefits.  Still work for low wages.  So the rest of us have to work for low wages too.  If touchback immigrants work for 10$ hour so will Americans because if they don't touchbacks are willing to do the job.  Nothing different, everything the same.
