DHS Secretary: Right-Wingers Pose Same Threat As Islamic Extremists

Posted By Peter Hasson On 8:50 PM 06/14/2016 In | No Comments

One month after the San Bernardino terrorist attack that left 14 innocent people dead, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson told advisors that right wing extremists pose just as much of a threat to the country as Islamic extremists.

Johnson made the comments during the Homeland Security Advisory Council’s (HSAC) January meeting. City of Austin Mayor Art Acevedo, whom Johnson appointed to HSAC, shifted the discussion to the threat of right-wing extremists, according to the official meeting minutes.

“Member Acevedo reminded the Council that the threat from right-wing extremists domestically is just as real as the threat from Islamic extremism,” the minutes state.

He seems to have "forgotten" the Orlando shooter was a registered democrat and almost none of the mass shootings were by conservatives.  So if right wingers are the same threat, left wingers must be in outer space when it comes to threats.  He has also forgotten that his boss will never use the term "islamic terrorists" yet he has to nerve to go against Obama.

Here is a perfect example why we should stand against any call (from R or D) for the government to strip rights from rights from groups simply for being in a group or being watched. Stripping away due process strips away individual rights. As soon as you give the government this power you can start the count down until it is used against you. It is easy to quickly knee jerk when events like Orlando happen and not think about the real consequences of reactionary actions.

It was disturbing to see how many agreed with both Trump and Hillary that we should ban firearm ownership from anyone on a watch-list or who the government deems suspect. All the people cheering should take stock- they are also on a list somewhere. It isn't someone else's rights they are stripping- it is their own.

See the agenda clearly now?

Conflate actual, repeated acts of Islamic terrorism with the non-existent "right-wing", "homegrown" variety. Deny that the former have anything to do with Islam, and insist that the real enemy is something called "extremism", protection against which will necessitate the Federal government stomping on your liberty.

Whoops. Guess I just made it to the no-fly list.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn
