The newbies here don't know it, but back last year I was criticized in this forum for saying that if it was Bush or Kasich or Rubio, I wouldn't be voting for the presidential choice in November 2016. Substantially criticized...

You would not have been criticized by me.  I was right there with you.

I'm forever done voting for Liberal Democrats with an "R" after their name.

Full-throated, vetted Constitutional Conservative, or I write in my own Conservative.

From now on.  Forever.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Clinton has been ahead of polls for months.  A couple of Rasmussen outliers showed otherwise in early May, but the trend is now back to favoring Hillary, and that trend will increase as most Democrats who backed Sanders come back to their party.

Does anyone seriously think that last week hasn't hurt Trump in a big way?  We'll see polls soon measuring the results, but Trump has some digging out to do.

Will he begin tonight with his victory speech?  Or will he be petty, vindictive, angry?

I just heard he will read from a teleprompter. In other words, he's put himself on a leash.

It will be interesting to see how Trump does if he, indeed, uses a teleprompter.  The last time he tried was a disaster.  Trump simply is not accustomed to talking in complete... teleprompter-like...sentences.  Where is the space for his mindless repetitions, his hand waving, his blustering.

No one could put Trump on a leash but Trump and I doubt if he thinks he needs one.

Trump loses 50 states, plus the Senate.  By the end of September, no one will be questioning this.

If that happens, Trump will find an excuse to go home and stop campaigning.

It's funny, I would have written the same thing a few months back.  I wasn't about to have the party political minority jam yet another RINO down my throat.    We had an acceptable conservative candidate in Cruz, only to be attacked and defeated by "friendlies" at our rear.

However, having Trump as the GOP standard bearer is like having Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega as the guy on the ballot with the "(R)" next to his name.  Trump is so much more obnoxious, authoritarian, and ignorant, that I'd gladly pull the handle for Rubio, Bush, Walker, and others not named Kasich or Christie.   My only choice left, the only way my vote will mean anything, is to vote to beat Trump by voting for Hitlery.  Oh, I'll do it if necessary, but it's a hell of situation to be in.

I guess I'm becoming another version of a Trumpkin, i.e. unprincipled.   I need to leave this computer, and go out to do some honest work as restorative therapy.   :thud:

Even McCain and Romney are looking pretty at this point, vis-a-vis Trump.    However, let us not forget that it's the GOP-e's feckless dishonesty, and the GOP-e's support of Obama and fight against the Tea Party patriots, that has put the GOP in the position where it's fielding Trump as the nominee.   As I've posted multiple times on this forum, Trump loses 50 states plus the Senate and much of the GOP house in November, the GOP becomes the latest "WHIG" party, and the GOP-e Senate and House leaders own it all.   Trump is the disease, but the GOP-e is the cause. The GOP becomes the party of everything Trump, and will be exiled in disgrace to the dustbin of history.

It'll be interesting to see how many of the GOP-e elected officials end up as Democrats after the GOP dissolves in the next couple of years.

Weird, but Trump has managed to make everyone else look good or at least acceptable.

I think by late July or early August we'll have a better handle on how "the polls" are going.
Just a little too early as of yet.

I find Right_in_Virginia's post about o'er-the-hillary leading Trump by only 5 points in Connecticut to be VERY interesting, and telling. If it's really that close, I might even have to vote in November!

Aside:
The newbies here don't know it, but back last year I was criticized in this forum for saying that if it was Bush or Kasich or Rubio, I wouldn't be voting for the presidential choice in November 2016. Substantially criticized...

I find comments like OldSaltUSN's:
"Trump loses 50 states, plus the Senate."
... to be laughable.
OldSalt, you should know better. You didn't get to where you got to in your career by thinkin' that way!

And Gov Bean Counter wrote:
"The debate mods will cut Trimp's mic before they let him talk over Hillary the way he did his Repiblican opponents."

If the "mainstream media moderator" dares cut him off in front of the American people like that, watch him surge in the polls. Fearless prediction.

But I'm wondering if o'er-the-hillary will choose to debate him.
No law saying she must.
Heck, she can't even handle a live press conference these days.... ;)

I got a big smile on reading this post, Fish. People sure do go on a tear. I guess the centers in the brain for Hate and Hyperbole must be near each other.

Laughable ..................... because ........................... ???

Oh, I understand what you mean:

laughable = yet another Trumpkin "ad hominem"

I'll translate for the benefit of the audience:
> because:  They've got nothing to say that would credibly defend Trump nor their position, that Trump will win the election for President in November, 2016
> and:  They don't like your argument, because you're not on the Trump bandwagon, so they don't like YOU.
> and:  Since they don't like you, nothing you say can possibly be valid, truthful, or correct.

I fully explained why Trump will lose 50 states, and he clearly won't carry New York, his home state, against Hitlery.
He'll lose the Senate because every racist, xenophobic, hate baiting word he says, will be tied to the rear end of every GOP Senate candidate.
Many of those GOP-e Senators were non-viable all on their own.  With Trump's help, there gonna be UUUgggg - losers.

I know just saying what you said made you feel better.  No logic or justification is required, as long as it makes you feel good.
So, that's all right.  I was just helping you out a bit, with my comments above, real friendly, neighborly like, by translating your logical fallacy into English for the benefit of the Forum.
