Ted Cruz laid into Donald Trump with his most personal and toughest criticism since the GOP presidential campaign began, calling him a "pathological liar" on Tuesday who doesn't understand the difference between the truth and lies.

Cruz prefaced his comments by saying that for the first time, he wanted to say exactly what he thought of Trump after the front-runner suggested Cruz's father might have had something to do with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The Texas senator accused Trump of being both disingenuine and self-aggrandizing, saying Trump was a "narcissist" at a level "I don't think this country has ever seen." "Donald Trump is such a narcissist that Barack Obama looks at him and says, 'Dude, what's your problem?' " Cruz said.

“Whatever lie he’s telling, in that minute he believes it, Cruz added. "But the man is utterly amoral. Morality does not exist for him.”

Let's hope the voters in Indiana are still listening.

If Trump does get the nomination,  I hope that his personal attacks on Cruz, his wife and his father, coupled with Cruz's natural inclination to act on principle,  means that he will actively urge his supporters to reject Trumpism in the fall.

It will be absolutely critical for as many respectable voices in the GOP as possible to separate themselves from Trumpism and call for his defeat.   Reconciliation cannot be an option.  Better Hillary than this moral cretin.   Only if Trumpism is utterly repudiated can the conservative movement re-constitute itself.

This is probably a couple of days late, but maybe it will reach enough voters.

Alas, no candidate has so far disavowed Trump and said they would never vote for him in the fall.  Only Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse has had the courage to join #NeverTrump.

No doubt they're afraid of him, but, when Trump loses, all his power will dissipate and he will be reduced to continuing as a cheap reality show huckster.

I think he is a pathological liar.  I am not sure he actually believes what he is saying when he says it really.  I just think he is so void of conscience that he thinks he is justified in whatever he says, no matter the contradiction.  That means he would pass a lie detector's test.  It just doesn't mean he believes it.  He knows he is lying.  He just has no conscience about it.  That's why he has never asked forgiveness for anything.  He never thinks he is wrong.

Trump definitely suffers from delusions of grandeur and other pathological disorders, IMO.
I am leaning toward him being a habitual liar to manipulate voters through marketing techniques.

On the issues, its obvious that he hasn't really thought through the issues, so he changes his positions often to what he thinks will win votes.

Yes, Cruz should have had a surrogate doing this weeks ago, if not months.  Cruz himself comes off as a bit of a stuffy lawyer, and it doesn't play well for him to be the attack dog.  But, he really needs a junkyard dog to go after Trump and start speaking truth to lies.

Oh Look!  It's Mechanicos, the FR poster who accused me of being a DU Troll and even got reprimanded by his master Jim Robinson.
You might as well go back to FR now where you can hang out in your safe space with the Mods banning everyone who is not deluded by Donald.

If you really want to understand Trump's approach, attend a WWE event put on by his good friend and mentor Vince McMahon.  From the very beginning of his campaign, he has used the exact same tactic of negatively labeling his opponent and complaining about being treated unfairly.  His bragging and flouting of the rules of  normal society is right out of the playbook of professional wrestling.  When you look at how the wrestling fans get caught up in the act, despite the fact that they know full well that nothing they are witnessing is true, think of the almost robotic reaction and denial of reality on the part of his most ardent political fans.   I see Senator Cruz has just suspended his campaign so, following his playbook, Mr. Trump will gloat for a while, then try to use the same tactics on his next victim.  His tactics  only work when his opponent is a better person than he is, so I fear he will have greater difficulty with Sec. Clinton than with his previous victims.

I thought it was just an Eastern thing, they say even Christie acts in some ways like Trump; that's one thing about Trump, I don't mind him that much like others, he's a real yankee. Though, I may question some of his judgements.

Or that Governor Le Page (?) in Maine, they say he acts in ways like all of this as well and did it before the arrival of Trump.
