Donald Trump Hits Scalia Over Affirmative Action Remarks
« on: February 13, 2016, 11:21:16 pm »
Just from December.

Quote
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is siding with many Democrats in criticizing conservative Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia over comments he made about African-American student achievement during oral arguments earlier this week of the affirmative action case, Fisher v. University of Texas.

“I thought his remarks were very tough,” Trump said of Scalia in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper that aired Sunday.

“They were very, very tough to a certain community,” the Republican front-runner continued. “I thought it was very tough to the African-American community.”

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump late Saturday called the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia a "massive setback" for the conservative movement and the country.

Trump tweeted the remarks after reports that Scalia died during a hunting vacation in Texas.

"I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to the Scalia family after the passing of Justice Scalia," Trump said in a later statement. "Justice Scalia was a remarkable person and a brilliant Supreme Court Justice, one of the best of all time."

Trump said Scalia's career "was defined by his reverence for the Constitution and his legacy of protecting Americans’ most cherished freedoms."

"He was a Justice who did not believe in legislating from the bench and he is a person whom I held in the highest regard and will always greatly respect his intelligence and conviction to uphold the Constitution of our country. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time," Trump added.

The 79-year-old conservative jurist's death will spark a firefight over his replacement in the midst of the presidential election cycle.

Trump and the other Republican candidates will appear in a debate Saturday evening in South Carolina ahead of the next GOP presidential primary.

Could be a setback for Trump too, if conservatives are concerned about the kind of SCOTUS judge he would appoint.

I don't know about other people, but that makes me terribly concerned.

I'm very surprised that people don't know a lot of things  Trump has said very recently.

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Trump has said that his pro-partial-birth-abortion-loving sister would "make a fine Supreme Court Justice.

I'm surprised somebody didn't knock him on his ass over that tonight.
