From the beginning of his campaign, Jeb Bush has tried to portray himself as his own man who can run on his own merits.

His campaign logo of Jeb! even lacks the Bush name.

Yet as time grows short and the polls fail to rise, he is increasingly turning to members of his family for support and using the last name which comes with it.

    Once the golden hope of the 2016 Republican ticket for the White House but now the butt of frontrunner Donald Trump’s mockery, Jeb Bush has called on his mother to help him win.

    The 90-year-old former first lady, whose husband and eldest son have already served as US president, famously advised her second son Jeb against running for the White House.

    But it seems she has changed her mind.

    “Jeb has been a very good father, a wonderful son, a hard worker — his heart is big,” she says, elegantly coiffed and turned out in blouse and pearls for the 34-second video released by his campaign on Friday.

I don't know what the big deal about Barbara Bush supporting Jeb.  If Track Palin were running for President would Sarah Palin not make a pitch for her “wonderful son” while taking shots at his opponent(s)? Of course she would. Any mother would.  Any sibling would support their brother.  This is much ado about nothing.

I think the big deal is how out of touch the Bush family is with the general public.  At a time when the most Americans are suffering severe Bush exhaustion, you don't bring out more of them.

I could have missed it, but I don't recall seeing Jeb Bush use HIS family in ads and campaign appearances much.  I read a comment somewhere on the internet yesterday that Jeb Bush is the only member of his immediate family - wife and children - that doesn't have an arrest record.  I don't see that in the rest of the Bush family.   :nometalk:

That is one of the more positive developments of the past several years.  More and more people are waking up, and realizing that clinging to the "Bush family are so wonderful and love the country" meme is a fools venture.  That is progress!

That was me. Both of his sons,his daughter,and his wife were all arrested and convicted at one time or another while he was the Governor of Florida.

I think the Bush Crime Family had the record of the oldest song,Jorge P (the Brown Bush is how granny and grandpa refer to him) expunged so he could get into law school,graduate,and start out on the road to political mediocrity. He is in the Texas RINO farm club now,working his way up to national office. IIRC,they finally picked him a safe political position and  had him appointed to it.

He was the one they sent down to Mexico to campaign for Boy Jorge in Spanish when he ran for re-election.
