The pregnant wife of WNBA basketball star Brittney Griner is asking for $20,000 a month in spousal support after Griner filed an annulment of their same-sex marriage, according to ESPN.

Glory Johnson of the Tulsa Shock and Griner of the Phoenix Mercury were married on May 9, three weeks after they were arrested for a domestic violence incident at their Phoenix home.

Both were suspended for seven games a piece from the respective teams by the WNBA and agreed to undergo domestic violence counseling as part of a plea agreement.

On June 4, Johnson announced she was pregnant with twins and would miss the upcoming WNBA season. The next day, Griner filed for an annulment, saying, “Last Wednesday, Glory and I agreed to either legally separate, get divorced, or annul our marriage.

“I can confirm that today I filed for an annulment. In the week prior to the wedding, I attempted to postpone the wedding several times until I completed counseling, but I still went through with it. I now realize that was a mistake,” Griner added.

In her annulment petition, Griner claims she did not know about the in vitro treatment that Johnson had undergone to get pregnant, but Johnson denies that claim, Fox Sports reports.

Johnson said she’s almost broke from wedding expenses, moving and furniture costs and IVF procedures. She said because of her “high-risk multiple pregnancy,” she won’t be able to play basketball in the upcoming season or seek supplemental income in another profession, ESPN reported.

In addition to spousal support, she’s asking that Griner continue car payments on the Mercedes that Griner bought her as a gift. Plus, she’s asking for $10,000 advancement toward attorney fees. Griner is asking for Johnson to pay her attorney fees.

The couple will have been married for less than a month, if the annulment goes through.
