While "Tonight" Show host Jimmy Fallon has long been regarded by conservatives as a liberal fan of President Barack Obama, the late-night comic appears to be souring on the current occupant of the White House.

During his Thursday night monologue, Fallon mocked the president's handling of the economy, the Daily Caller noted, joking that a crowd attending a midday Obama event in Cleveland was doing so because it doesn't have regular jobs to go to.

During the Cleveland speech, Obama "criticized the GOP’s budget proposal and said it's just a path to prosperity for those who are already prospering," Fallon said. "Then he stopped to wipe the spit off everyone in the front row."

During that same speech, Fallon said, Obama "discussed the country’s successful economy and said, 'I'm going to take a little credit.'"

At that point, people attending the rally "were like, 'Dude, we're all here in the middle of the day because we don’t have jobs. So, stop talking about how good the economy is. I want to go to work!'" Fallon said.

"That’s right, Fallon continued. "Obama discussed the successful economy and said, 'I'm going to take a little credit.' Then the economy got bad again and he was like, 'Republicans did it.' Interesting."

 Fallon's studio audience applauded enthusiastically.

The Media Research Center's "Newsbusters" reported Friday that Fallon has become increasingly willing to mock prominent Democrats of late.

For example, he ridiculed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's excuses for having only one phone and account in connection with her email scandal.

On another occasion, Fallon mocked Democrats who boycotted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's congressional address by showing a video of members of Congress tripping over their words in explaining why they did not attend.

After showing the reaction Mrs. Clinton received at a dinner held by the feminist group Emily's list, Fallon joked that Vice President Joseph Biden "would have to pull a Mrs. Doubtfire" to win the presidency.
