Oliver North: Terrorists Targeted My Family

After a terrorist attack killed 12 people and injured 11 in Paris on Wednesday, retired Lt. Col. Oliver North said he and his family were once targets of a terror plot.
"They went after my family in 1986," North said Wednesday on Fox News Channel's "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren."
An Islamic Jihad cell operating in McClain, Virginia, targeted North's home under orders from Libya, he said. The FBI had been monitoring the group, and North's family was moved out for several months, he said.
Now, he said, such operations are not being undertaken. Instead, reams of information are being collected but no one has "headphones" on to monitor terrorists in real time.
Former New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly had set up an intelligence operation to monitor the movements of radical individuals, but it was shut down by Mayor Bill de Blasio and current Police Commissioner Bill Bratton, he said.
"What we have got to do is tighten those measures that we have to defend this country," North said. "Otherwise we are going to have attacks just like we just saw in Paris."
