Congresswoman Tells Gruber, 'Get Over Your Damn Glibness'

"There have been so many glitches in the passage and implementation of Obamacare that have real-life consequences on people's lives."

During Tuesday's House Oversight Committee hearing on Obamacare, Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) shared the tragic story of her husband's death during a time when they were experiencing coverage issues under the Affordable Care Act. Mrs. Lummis's speech culminated when she told Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber it was time to "get over [his] damn glibness" because glitches in the system have "real-life consequences."

While Lummis never indicated that the problems she and her husband were having because of Obamacare caused her husband's heart attack, she did say that recommended tests were not completed because of the confusion of their coverage under Obamacare.

Lummis explained:

“I'm on Obamacare. My husband was on Obamacare with me. We were enrolled in Obamacare and then when we filed claims, we were told we were not enrolled in Obamacare.

Lummis and her husband were finally able to get things straightened out, only to find out that after filing claims once more, they were told they were not on Obamacare. During this period of limbo, Mr. Lummis began experiencing chest pains and because of the confusion, decided not to have the recommended test, thinking it would not be covered. A week before the midterm elections, Mr. Lummis, 65, passed away in his sleep.

"I'm not telling you that my husband died because of Obamacare," Mrs. Lummis stated during the hearing. "He died because he had a massive heart attack in his sleep." She continued, "But I am telling you that during the course of time that he was having tests by a physician and was told we were not covered by Obamacare, that he then decided not to have the last test the doctor asked him to have."

Speaking directly to Gruber and the Obama administration's Marily Tavenner, an emotional Lummis used her story to conclude with a not-so-subtle suggestion:

“Let me suggest that there may be a decline in participation and that it may not be to the benefit of the American people. I want to suggest that regardless of what happened to me personally, that there have been so many glitches in the passage and implementation of Obamacare that have real-life consequences on people's lives. And the so-called glibness that has been referenced today have direct consequences for real American people. So, get over your damn glibness.

"Let me suggest that there may be a decline in participation ......"

Let me suggest that congress has now completed the pontification stage of the Gruber show and will now proceed to do what it does best, absolutely nothing.
Not one question that I'm aware of was relevant or productive.
November 6, 2012, a day in infamy...the death of a republic as we know it.
