Megyn Kelly, Bret BaierMegyn Kelly, Bret BaierMegyn KellyFox News’ Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly achieved a rare ratings feat on Wednesday when they both managed to attract more than 500,000 viewers in the key demo (18 – 49 year-olds), easily outdistancing CNN and MSNBC.
O’Reilly and Kelly, whose shows air back-to-back, averaged 537,000 and 501,000 viewers respectively in their timeslots, beating CNN’s Anderson Cooper with 342,000 and Piers Morgan with 277,000.
CNN has been doing considerably better of late, due to their obsession with the disappearance of Malaysian Airline flight MH370 nearly three weeks ago, making the large Fox News victory even more significant.
MSNBC, which lost 24% of its primetime audience last year, came in third as it struggled to compete with Fox’s normally strong lineup and CNN’s Malaysian Air coverage.
Total audience figures for O’Reilly came in at 2,868,000, and 2,294,000 for Kelly, which was more than the combined numbers for CNN and MSNBC during those hours.
