A ketogenic diet: This type of diet, in which you replace carbs with low to moderate amounts of high quality protein and high amounts of beneficial fat, is what I recommend for everyone, and is exactly what you get if you focus on the bottom three tiers of my food pyramid.Supplemental to this is the story of "Diabetes Warrior", Steve Cooksey. I first learned of Cooksey in a news article that stated he was being hassled by the authorities in North Carolina because he was offering dietary advice though he was not a dietician, a doctor, or a nutritionist. So now he adds a disclaimer to his web page that states all that and they have chosen to leave him alone for now.
Cooksey's story is quite amazing.
To summarize my story, I was an obese, sedentary, recently diagnosed diabetic
when I began this journey. I was on diabetes, cholesterol, and hypertension
drugs as well as taking 4 insulin shots per day.
But within days things began to change and within a few months, I WAS A NEW PERSON!

His treatment? Diet and exercise.

He reverses the popular food pyramid to stress proteins and fats and strongly advises against carbohydrates. For him it has worked wonderfully.
Today, I am 70+ lbs lighter and I have normal Blood Glucose readings, for non-diabetics AND I have normal blood pressure and cholesterol… AND I TAKE -0- drugs and -0- insulin. Will it work for everyone? I don't know and I doubt he would say that. But for further info:
