Rush Limbaugh, who is none too pleased with the Supreme Court’s decisions on same-sex marriage, is likening the nation’s highest court to a “barroom.”
“The court is no different than a barroom now,” the conservative radio host said on his program Wednesday, according to a show transcript. “Whoever has the largest number on one side, the loudest voices and the most insulting voices wins.”
The two same-sex marriage opinions released today — on the Defense of Marriage Act and California’s Proposition 8 — were both decided 5-4.
“If Scalia’s dissent is right, what it means is that the common, ordinary fisticuff arguments between left and right in this country have now taken over the Supreme Court,” Limbaugh said before reading aloud excerpts from Justice Antonin Scalia’s dissent to the majority opinion in United States v. Windsor.
“The law and judicial restraint, temperament and all that has evaporated,” he added.
