Mamdani puts wealthy property owners on notice: ‘You’ve got mail’

New York City Mayor Zohan Mamdani is quick to denounce claims that he is a full-fledged communist, but the third-world import sure has a fixation on personal property.

One thing is certain, the congenial Democrat relishes in the idea of scaring people, as seen in a recent appearance on Jon Stewart’s podcast, responding to the notion that he’s both a socialist and a Muslim to laughingly say, “If you scare them, scare them twice!”

As for those who own property, Mamdani issued a warning on X about a “new” tax to close budget gaps that’s aimed at those who own a second home.

“If you have a second home in New York City worth more than $5M, check your mailbox when you’re back in the five boroughs — because you’ve got mail,” the mayor wrote. “Today, we sent notification letters to property owners, letting them know that our new pied-à-terre tax is coming soon. The best city in the world deserves the best parks, libraries, and schools in the world. That’s only possible when we all pay our fair share.”

Only if the parks are for mass celebrations of Muslim holidays.

Only if  the libraries contain the koran, the sunnahs, the hadiths, and Mein Kampf.

Only if the schools are all madrassas.

Last week, my mom got a "pied-a-terre" tax notice. She has lived full-time in her townhouse FOR 30 YEARS (she and my dad bought it for under $1 million). She has no other residence.

Is NYC not bothering with basic checking of its own tax lists?

She's 81 and has three weeks to get her name off the list or she owes $56,000. (Yes, I said I'd help.)
