Troy Jackson emerges as Democratic pick as top Maine Senate candidates step aside
Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows and former public health official Nirav Shah ended their Senate campaigns Sunday.

SANFORD, Maine — Former state Senate President Troy Jackson emerged from a whirlwind weekend of voting as Maine Democrats’ likely pick to take on GOP Sen. Susan Collins.

By Sunday night, all of Jackson’s major opponents had dropped out of the race, including Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, physician Nirav Shah and former congressional staffer Jordan Wood, who reversed course after initially committing to remain in the race.

Bellows made her announcement Sunday morning, while Shah exited the race Sunday evening after Democrats across the state selected delegates to next week’s state nominating convention. Jackson quickly established a seemingly insurmountable advantage in delegates as his supporters swept counties throughout the state.

Jackson’s supporters won 481 of the 500 convention seats up for grabs this weekend, according to his campaign. Those delegates are not technically required to support Jackson at the convention, but with such a strong showing, his nomination became a foregone conclusion.

A logger and former legislator, Jackson doesn’t officially become the nominee until the state convention next week. There, delegates will pick a new nominee to take on GOP Sen. Susan Collins, replacing primary winner Graham Platner after he abruptly ended his campaign last week following a sexual assault allegation, which he denied.

So Maine has progressed from a Nominee who is a Nazi that rapes women to one who merely hits women in the head with bottles of water?

I don't know if he recycles, but he repurposes plastic water bottles into deadly anti-personnel missiles!

Poll shows Platner replacement already leads Susan Collins in Maine
July 22, 2026 | Chris Donaldson

The likely replacement for disgraced Maine Senate hopeful Graham Platner is already leading longtime Republican incumbent Sen. Susan Collins.

Former Maine Senate President Troy Jackson is on the verge of securing the nomination, which was initially won by the scandal-drenched oyster farmer in last month’s primary before a media firestorm after he was accused of sexual assault, which led to him dropping out of the race. This pivotal contest could determine which party controls the U.S. Senate.

Jackson secured the majority of delegate votes at the weekend’s caucuses, making his selection all but a done deal, now needing only the official seal of approval at a party meeting next week, a formality after the other candidates dropped out and endorsed him.

The Dem gamble to take out their own candidate looks like it just might pay off.

According to the latest “Pine Tree State Poll” by the University of New Hampshire’s States of Opinion project, Jackson is three points up on Collins with just over three months before voters go to the polls.

Mortgage fraud and insurance fraud. Nothing to see here.

Democratic Socialist Troy Jackson is almost guaranteed to receive the insider appointment to replace Graham Platner in Maine.

Fun fact… In 2019, Jackson purchased a home in Augusta, more than 200 miles from his district in Allagash. Lots of lawmakers will have an apartment near the State House, but Jackson bought his using an FHA loan — a loan for low-income first-home buyers that requires you to make the house your primary residence. Occupancy clause, they call it, and Jackson initialed the page.

From 2019-2021, Jackson simultaneously told the Maine Ethics Commission that he was living in Allagash, so that he could keep the State Senate seat, while telling the bank and the FHA that he lived in Augusta, so he could have the cheap loan.

Lying on a mortgage document is mortgage fraud.

We only know of this because Jackson and his longtime girlfriend Lana Pelletier decided to sue the older couple who sold them the Augusta house alleging deception. Jackson claimed the sellers withheld details about the house, like smoke damage and bugs. The sellers were able to supply information showing that all of this was disclosed and the lawsuit was bogus. At the same time, it emerged from discovery that Jackson had filed an insurance claim for the damage he claimed happened before he owned the house.

Claiming that damage happened before you bought the house, then claiming that damage happened after you bought the house (and the policy started) means he either lied in the lawsuit, or he lied to his insurance company (aka insurance fraud).

When @TheMaineWire reported all of this in 2024, Jackson faced some media scrutiny and an Ethics complaint. Over and over again, he swore that never lived in Augusta. He attacked me, threw his mortgage officer under the bus, and skated on any fraud charges because the Biden US Attorney was a longtime Democrat toadie from Aroostook County.

The current U.S. Attorney in Maine or Trump’s FHA could 100% investigate and indict Jackson based on what’s already public.

But, you say, it was just an honest mistake on a mortgage by a country bumpkin and a trailer trash cash grab lawsuit… Who would get prosecuted over that?

Ask Merton Weed, Jr., the Maine man the Biden DOJ nailed with mortgage fraud charges. Weed was guilty of the same thing as Jackson, but he wasn’t a socialist senator.
