Nicaragua’s long-serving president, Daniel Ortega, has said the country will hold no further elections to prevent the opposition from coming to power.

The 80-year-old authoritarian leader, who has been in office since 2007, also said he would work with the congress he controls to pass new laws that would “build a wall” against the opposition.

Ortega made the announcement on Sunday during the official ceremony marking the 47th anniversary of the 1979 Sandinista revolution(.)

Does Nicaragua have an economy?  Their greatest export seems to be illegal alien foreigners, refugees, and asylum seekers.

Naval blockade of its ports and seize and close its airports so help cannot get to them from the Chi-coms, Russians, Iranians, North Koreans, or the Cubans.

... or, he could tragically slip on a banana peel.

It's what commies do. It's what DSA, America's commies, want.

Saw the headline and I was trying to remember the last time they held one.

Usually these regimes at least hold sham elections pro forma to give the illusion of popular support. But Ortega, it seems, has decided that's no longer necessary. It's not like people believe that he has 99.9% support from the people, anyway.
