Thank you for continuing to agree with me, and with Obama on this point.

That you took that as agreement shows the flaw in you. happy77 :tongue2:

I do not agree. I most adamnantly disagree. I am fed up to here with folks that criticize America as 'slave-holding' when it is the main and only vehicle of liberty that has ever existed. The only one. And the Founders, in their wisdom, made that happen.

Don't cuss the fiddle, son.

Ahhh, so slavery was, in fact, just hunky-dory, Mom-and-Apple-pie,  it then why’d it stop being that way in 1865?  Was there a sudden collective epiphany?

Have I said that the idea of emancipation predated the US? Did I say that out loud? More than once?

Said is not done. Not the same thing.
Prior to the action taken by Britain and then the US, YES, slavery was considered morally fine. Even in Christendom.
You can find a pope here and there that shook his finger, and shook his head, gravely... You can point to Protestant preachers stoking the fires... But nobody got it done.

Not in all of history.

And for the argument, George Washington was one of the few Founders that freed his slaves legally - His will allowed that provision, which was to occur after the death of his wife, Martha.

So YES, he owned them. And YES, he freed them.

Don't let that get in the way of smearing the Founders.

Obama, like everyone, is entitled to his opinions. No one is required to agree with any of them. At least not yet.

That is the part that makes me nervous.
