DOJ: 22-year-old charged with plotting U.S. attacks, providing material support to ISIS

The Department of Justice announced federal charges against Mohamed Sagha, a 22-year-old resident of New Jersey, for allegedly plotting domestic terror attacks against a synagogue and a National Guard station in support of ISIS.
In a statement released by the DOJ on Monday, prosecutors say that Sagha, of Wayne, New Jersey, had plotted an attack against the U.S. in “one or more” pro-ISIS online group chats along with a strike of his own.
Sagha now faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
“Those who seek to advance the objectives of foreign terrorist organizations should expect a swift and coordinated response from federal law enforcement,” stated Robert Frazer, U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey. “Those who seek to advance the objectives of foreign terrorist organizations should expect a swift and coordinated response from federal law enforcement,” Frazer continued in the statement. “This office will continue working relentlessly with our law enforcement partners to identify, disrupt, and prosecute individuals who support terrorism and threaten the safety of our communities.”
